Huge Archive Of Photographs And Documents Assembled By James Alexander Semple Of Famous Women In America. Amazing archive of hundreds of photographs and documents of prominent women in America. It was assembled by James A. Semple, President of Alexander Publishing in Denver, Co. These women were to be part of a book titled "Representative Women of America", c. 1920's. The archive includes a handwritten biography, completed by the women themselves, with many including signed photographs. One prominent figure being Helen Keller, who signed a photograph on the verso and included another note to Semple. Also an Autograph Letter Signed by Katharine Lee Bates, the author of "America the Beautiful", and a signed photograph of Maude Ballington Booth, Salvation Army leader. This list includes actresses, Suffragettes, women involved in politics, education, and so much more. There are four large binders of photographs and documents, and other collateral material, including a note about the book written by Semple himself.
