    Henrik Ibsen Autograph Letter Signed. "Henrik Ibsen". On a 5.5" x 3.25" postcard, in untranslated German. Rome, Italy; April 5, 1884. The Norwegian poet and playwright writes to his friend, Dr. Oswald Schmidt of Munich, Germany, in Schmidt's native tongue to wish him a belated birthday. Ibsen is often referred to as "the father of realism," known for the works Peer Gynt, Ghosts, and A Doll's House. His dramatic works are the second most often performed in the world, eclipsed only by Shakespeare.

    Condition: Slightly rounded corners with light toning and handling wear.
