Description

Henri Guy de Maupassant Autograph Letter Signed "Maupassant." One page on imprinted letterhead, 5.25" x 8"; Paris, circa 1880. A letter (in French) addressed to "My dear friend" regarding the expected arrival of copies of [Les] Soirees de Médan. The book was a collection of short stories by six different writers, including Maupassant, about the Franco-Prussian War. The best regarded story in the collection was "Ball of Tallow", by Maupassant, which launched his career.

Condition: Single horizontal mail fold, light creasing and scattered foxing. Paper clip impression at top, leaving a stain on verso.
