    Heinrich Heine Autograph Letter Signed. One page, 5.25" x 6.5"; June 5, no year. A letter of introduction written in French. With a full English translation that reads: "My dear Charles! The bearer of these lines is the German professor who comes from Algiers and about whom I talked to you the other day. I would like to intercede with your brother on his behalf and to give him some lines to this effect. My eyes are always bad. As ever yours Henri Heine."

    Heinrich Heine (1797-1856) was a German author and literary critic and is best known outside of Germany for his early lyric poetry, which was set to music by composers such as Robert Schumann and Franz Schubert. A scarce and desirable autograph.

    Condition: Uneven margins; previous dealer pricing in pencil at top right. A name and address are written in contemporary ink at bottom in an unknown hand. Annotation in pencil on verso.
