DescriptionHarriet Beecher Stowe Autograph Quote Signed "H B Stowe." Small card, 3.5" x 2.25", undated. Stowe has written a note, quoting Psalm 37:3, reading "A good mother for Life Death & Eternity. Trust in the Lord & do good." The author of Uncle Tom's Cabin, Harriet Beecher Stowe was a strong abolitionist and deeply religious woman. Her book reached millions as both a novel and later play, and became influential, even in Britain. It made the political issues of slavery tangible to millions, and both energized anti-slavery forces in the North, and angered and embittered those in the South. The small card has been mounted and framed to the overall size of 10.25" x 9".
Condition: The letter has some light toning and matt burn from previous framing. Otherwise very fine.
