Harper Lee Autograph Card Signed "Nelle". Three pages of a bifolium card, 6" x 4", New York City; June 13, 1996. An elderly Lee, aged 70, writes to her close friend Doris Leapard about her newfound enjoyment of concerts and inquires about entertainment opportunities at Doris' nursing home. The letter reads, in full:

"Hi: Just thinking of you and hoping you are doing well, and not having the mean weather we're going through - we are steaming hot after no spring at all. There's nothing really to report: my hearing is now so poor that I no longer enjoy the theatre, but I u do /u enjoy concerts now. The 'Mostly Mozart' series is getting started this month, to a shortened schedule, and I hope to attend at least a couple of concerts. Doris, can you still enjoy facilities at the nursing home for listening? If you can have the activities lady let me know, I could maybe find you some CD's. I'm not sure about calling you because I don't think you have a telephone you can easily get to - could you have her let me know about that also??" Written in blue felt tip pen. Accompanied by the original transmittal cover, which has also been signed "Lee" in the return address. Harper Lee is famous for writing To Kill a Mockingbird, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Literature in 1961.

Condition: The envelope is torn open on verso, with writing on verso in an unknown hand.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
