Ernest Hemingway Autograph Note Unsigned. Two pages, 4.5" x 6.5", n. p., n. d. The author has written on the front of a sheet of note paper: "To Do For Paris Book/-Write Bicycle Racing.-" It is probable that he is referencing his book, "A Moveable Feast," which was not released until after his death. On the verso he has written a cryptic message: "as her hatred for me began after she had learned to write dialogue from a book I had written which had been successful." Light toning, else fine.

More Information: In reference to the message on the verso, it is likely that Hemingway is speaking of his former mentor, Gertrude Stein.  He makes a similar statement in the Paris Review, Vol. 5, No. 18 (Spring 1958) where he says: "Miss Stein wrote at some length and with considerable inaccuracy about her influence on my work. It was necessary for her to do this after she had learned to write dialogue from a book called The Sun Also Rises." The two had been very close until the relationship fell apart sometime in 1926.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
