    Description

    Emile Zola Autograph Letter Signed. One and a half pages of a bifolium (writing on pages 1 and 3), 5.25" x 8"; Paris; December 20, 1890. At the peak of his career, Zola writes to an unknown recipient that he is unable "to write the essay you are requesting of me." He explains that he is overwhelmed with work and cannot comply with all the requests that are made. Signed in full, "Emile Zola."

    Condition: Mailing folds; light soiling to the first and last pages. Large bold signature on bright paper. Previous collector's annotations in pencil on verso.
