    Charles A. Siringo Typed Letter Signed "Chas. A. Siringo" with cover. One page, 8.5" x 11", December 15, 1927, Venice, California. Siringo writes about his books and other western authors to Texana collector Frank Caldwell of Austin. In part, "I knew Jim McIntire and read his book HEAVEN AND HELL IN TEXAS three years ago. He was like Bob Wright, who wrote THE COWBOY CAPITAL full of dope and it killed both of them. he is mention in RIATA AND SPURS. You ask how many old books I have on hand. No HURRICANE DECK or TEXAS COWBOY nor BOOKLET OF COW CAMP SONGS nor BILLY THE KID. But I have 400 or 500 LONE STAR COWBOYS and about 100 COWBOY DETECTIVE books." Charles Siringo (1855-1928), a Texas cowboy and author, moved to Chicago when he was thirty-one years old to join the Pinkerton Detective Agency. After he retired from the agency in 1907, he wrote three controversial books about the agency. The letter is toned with flattened folds and contains a bold Siringo signature. Fine condition.
