    Alexander Pope Autograph Note Signed. One page, 6.5" x 3", June 28, 1715. A note to a Mr. Linton directing him to deliver a copy of the first volume of his Homer translation to a subscriber: "Pray deliver the first volume of Homer to the Bearer, who has paid the subscription to me, this his name be not inserted in the Book, Mr. Sam Smith. / A: Pope." Pope had published the first volume of his translation of the Iliad that year. His translations of Homer were painstaking and meticulous; he would continue publishing additional volumes for the next five years.

    Condition: Uneven toning, much heavier along the right margin where the paper is very fragile, and has chipped a bit affecting the very edges of the last letter in each line. Scattered foxing. Small tear and hole at center affecting the word "his".
