Description

[William Grant] Lloyd Eshbach, Marty Greenberg, Horace Gold, et al. Fantasy Press, Inc. Archive. More than 25 letters and personal notes written during the birth, life, and untimely death of Fantasy Press, Inc., a science fiction publishing house established by Lloyd Eshbach in 1946. Probably most noted for publishing works by Robert Heinlein and E.E. Smith, Fantasy Press eventually closed doors in 1961.

Taken from the files of William Grant, editor of Canadian Fandom magazine, this archive contains business letters and personal notes between Grant and Eshbach, and similar missives from other friends in the science fiction magazine/publishing business, including Martin Greenberg and David Kyle of The Gnome Press and Evelyn Paige and Horace Gold of Galaxy magazine. Of particular interest here is the series of letters between Eshbach and Grant, discussing Grant's investment in Fantasy Press and the ultimate failure of that publishing house.

All items are fine to very fine; a few mass-printed items are age toned. From the Robert and Diane Yaspan Collection.
