    including Alexander Stephens Autograph Postcard Signed. 3" x 5", Crawfordville [Georgia], January 27, 1881, to Fred Patek regarding his time in Congress: "I was not in Congress in 1860. I entered Congress in 1848 - quit March 1859 - and returned in Dec 1873." Stephens served as vice president of the Confederate States of America. [and:] Murat Halstead Autograph Letter Signed. One page, 6" x 9.5", Chicago, March 9, 1899, apologizing for being "so much trouble." [and:] Murat Halstead Autograph Letter Signed. One page, 8.25" x 13", Brooklyn, December 20, 1890, to an unknown recipient regarding the wife of William Cullen Bryant. Detached along both horizontal folds, with minor loss of paper; additional separation throughout. Halstead was a war correspondent during the Civil War. [and:] Warren Lee Goss Autograph Letter Signed. One page, 8" x 6.5", Rutherford [New Jersey], March 22, 1902, to C. T. Pershley transmitting his autograph. Goss served in the Army of the Potomac and, as a POW, spent time in both Libby and Andersonville Prisons.
