Asa G. Candler Autograph Letter Signed on Early Coca-Cola Company Letterhead. Two pages (recto only), 8.25" x 11", Atlanta, May 5, 1909. Asa Candler (1851-1929) purchased the formula for Coca-Cola from John Pemberton in 1888 and made millions off of the drink. He went on to invest in real estate and banking and donated large sums of money to the Methodist Church. Writing to his brother (most likely his younger brother, Methodist Bishop Warren Akin Candler, who often advised him on financial matters), Candler discusses some recent financial dealings, in part: "I have long ago determined to appropriate to the Cuban Mission bank enough money to make the bank down there permanent. To accomplish our purposes in Atlanta and Oxford has required that I do much more than we thought would be required when we undertook the two works. I had hoped that the Cuban matter might without detriment wait a year or two." Folds; light toning at the lower edge. Chipping at the edges.

Of note is the beautiful Coca-Cola Company letterhead which occupies the top quarter of each page and features seven quaint engravings of the various offices in cities ranging from Atlanta to Dallas, and Toronto, Canada, to Havana, Cuba.
