Original artwork from a legendary space artist.

Robert T. McCall: Large Signed Color Pastel Sketch. A 9" x 12" drawing of a figure standing with arms outstretched on a disk suspended between earth and the cosmos, boldly signed: "Robert T. McCall/ 2-2007". At the lower edge are attached two uncancelled U.S. Space stamps (Scott #1916 and #1919). A simple but dramatic scene from this legendary artist. Pristine condition.

The spark that ignited Robert McCall's (1919-2010) passion for space flight came from the science fiction pulp magazines that he read in his youth at Columbus, Ohio. Seeing an exciting group of low-flying bi-planes roaring over his hometown when he was a child and WWI surplus bombers at the Ohio State Fair a bit later led to his eventual joining of the Army Air Corps during WWII. After the war, he worked as an advertising and illustration artist, first in Chicago, then New York; much of his art dealt with aviation. In the mid-1950s, he travelled extensively through an Air Force program in which he would donate the paintings made from these trips for exhibit at various bases and facilities around the world. When NASA was created, they initiated a similar program allowing McCall to have unprecedented insider's access to all the manned flights. He was there and documented the American manned space program like no other artist ever has. His vision and talent remains unsurpassed.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
