Pierre-Auguste Renoir Photograph of Painting Signed "Renoir" on the photographic surface, 5.5" x 8.75" image, overall 6" x 11" mounted on a 9" x 11.5" board. Renoir lived in Cagnes, France, from 1907 until his death in 1919. Pictured is a Renoir painting of a seated nude woman which he has signed in the lower margin. To the left of Renoir's signature is a certification stating that "Pierre Auguste Renoir artiste-peintre" signed this photograph, Cagnes, January 11, 1908, signed in ink by the Mayor of Cagnes. The seal of Cagnes, Alpes Maritimes, is to the right of the Mayor's signature, right beneath Renoir's. There are mounting remnants on the board which is tanned at the left and right edges and in blank portions of the lower margin. Affixed to the upper edge of the board is a 9" x 1.75" appendage with two file holes. Signed images of Renoir paintings are rare.
