    Mary Cassatt Autograph Letter Signed. Six pages, 5.5" x7", Mesnil-Beaufresne letterhead, np, nd. Painter associated with Degas and Courbet and an exhibitor with the Impressionists known for her figure studies and paintings of mothers and children. Letter to opera singer Mary Garden, in part: "Of course I had your letter but I never thought of answering it...I am a very busy woman. Most of my correspondence to me is French...Ever since my mother's death thirty years ago, I have on this place and working here at my apartment. Of course I have been better known as an artist in France...In the meantime I send you my kindest regards and hope that next spring if I am well enough you can come out and see me." In fine condition, with light toning, some words of text a bit light due to poor ink flow, a couple of pencil notations and some partial separation along mailing folds and adjoined pages. Accompanied by original mailing envelope addressed in Cassatt's hand.
