    Italian Opera Singer Enrico Caruso Self-portrait Sketch Signed "Enrico Caruso." Single sheet, 5.5" x 7.75" (sight), no place; no date. A charcoal sketch of Caruso in character from one of his many performances. The opera singer was best known for his signature role as Canio in Pagliacci. Caruso sang as a tenor at the New York Metropolitan Opera and was proficient in Italian, German and French operas. He had a distinctive drawing style, which is evident in this sketch. Signed under the image on the lower right. Matted to an overall size of 10.5" x 14.5".

    Condition: Unevenly toned throughout, with holes scattered throughout the right side, minutely affecting the signature and sketch.
