Charles Dana Gibson Autograph Letter Signed "C. D. Gibson", two pages (single sheet), 8.25" x 10.75", Seven Hundred Acre Island letterhead, June 23, 1944, Dark Harbor, Maine, to Helen Mac Leod. The letter reads, in part, "Many thanks for sending me the picture of Elizabeth [Mac Leod's daughter]... She is a beauty... Funny how fathers look and act as tho [sic] they had done the whole thing by themselves... It's a mercy the very young don't have to worry about sacrificing and separations of this war. Mrs. Gibson joins me in best wishes..." Elizabeth and her husband John were formerly the caretakers of the legendary illustrator's summer home in Dark Harbor. Very fine condition with mailing folds and minor ink smearing on verso. The original envelope addressed in Gibson's hand is also included. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
