Artist Clare Leighton Autograph Letter Signed "Clare Leighton". One page, 7" x 10.5", on her personal letterhead, London, November 8, 1928, Mr. [Henry] Leach, [New York]. Writing to her close New York friends Henry and Agnes Leach, Leighton informs them of her plans for coming to the United States, and thanks them for their offer of a place for her to stay. She writes, in part: "You say the room needs a woodcut by Clare Leighton? Clare Leighton is putting aside a set of her prints for Hardy's Return of the Native and hopes they'll find a happy home at 170 East 64th Street. You can either tell Mrs. Leach or keep it as a surprise for her....The Hardy is now appearing in New York early in January to make use of the publicity of my visit." Leighton's illustrated version of Hardy's The Return of the Native was published by Harper & Row in 1929, in a limited edition signed by Leighton. A bold, bright letter with the usual fold creases but otherwise in fine condition. From the Judith Kaplan Women's History Collection.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
