Arthur Conan Doyle Autograph Letter Signed "A. Conan Doyle." One page, 9" x 7.25", "Undershaw, Hindhead, Haslemere [Surrey, England]," n. d. (circa 1897-1907). He writes, in part: "...Very much interested in your view from the Dreyfus case. I fancy that the Government may know upon evidence which they dare not disclose (spy or traitor evidence) that he is guilty & have convicted him on a bogus document." The "Dreyfus case" to which Doyle refers is the infamous Dreyfus Affair in France in which a young army captain of Alsatian Jewish decent, Alfred Dreyfus, was wrongly convicted on spying for the German government in the 1894. He spent the next several years in prison and was finally cleared in 1906 are reinstated to the army as a major. Untrimmed edges; heavy water damage in the lower half has resulted in a mildewing of the paper with only slight damage to the text, which is still wholly legible.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
