    The earth as seen from lunar orbit on Christms Eve 1968.

    Apollo 8 & Apollo 11 Crews-Signed Large Color "Earthrise" Photo. An absolutely stunning framed presentation of this world famous image, 19.25" x 15.25" sight size, taken by Apollo 8 from orbit around the moon. It has been boldly signed on the lower lunar surface area by the crewmembers of the first manned mission to the moon and the first manned mission to land on the moon (left to right): "Neil Armstrong", "James Lovell", "Frank Borman", "Bill Anders", "Buzz Aldrin", and "Mike Collins". Five of these signatures were obtained at the 1990 ceremony where the Apollo 8 crew was inducted into the International Aerospace Hall of Fame. Collins and Aldrin were there to speak during the presentation. The astronauts good-naturedly signed the photo; Lovell said that he would sign the largest because he took the photo. Borman criticized Lovell's photographic prowess and then claimed that HE took the photo (Anders is typically credited with taking the photo). The Armstrong signature was obtained in 1991 at the San Diego Aerospace Museum while he was there filming for his First Flights television series. Elegantly triple-matted and famed to an overall 26" x 22". Excellent condition and a display piece worthy of the finest collections.
