    Description

Apollo 11 Crew-Signed "First Man on the Moon" First Day Cover with Unsigned Apollo 11 Launch Cover. A philatelic cover with a single stamp (Scott #C76) tied to the cover with the dual Washington DC/ Moon Landing U S A "First Day of Issue" cancellation dated September 9, 1969 and July 20, 1969. The color cachet features the mission insignia with the text: "One Small Step For Man;/ One Giant Leap For Mankind" above. Beneath the cachet are the Apollo 11 crewmembers' names and positions. Each has signed just above: "Neil Armstrong", "M Collins", and "Buzz Aldrin". Authentic crew-signed Apollo 11 First Day Covers are scarce and this cachet is particularly desirable. Excellent.

Also included in this lot is a cacheted philatelic cover from the Bendix Launch Support Division bearing a 6¢ "Apollo 8" stamp and a pictorial machine cancel from Kennedy Space Center on July 16, 1969. It has a neatly typewritten address to "Mr. Harold G. Collins" at NASA who was the Chief of the Mission Support Office at that time. Also excellent.
