    Andrew Johnson Military Appointment Signed "Andrew Johnson". One vellum page, partially printed, 15.75" x 19.25", Washington D. C., April 20, 1865, with handsome engraved military and patriotic vignettes and countersigned by Edwin M. Stanton as Secretary of War, appointing "Henry C. Bankhead . . . Colonel by Brevet...for brave conduct and efficient service in the battles and marches of the campaign." With the blue seal of the War Office in the upper left. Folds, none of which affect the signatures. Fine.

    Together with: Andrew Johnson Military Appointment with a stamped signature. One vellum page, partially printed, 15.5" x 19", Washington D. C., April 9, 1866, countersigned by Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton (also a stamped signature). The document appoints "Henry C. Bankhead...Brigadier General by Brevet...for gallant and meritorious services at the battle of Five Forks, Virginia". With the blue seal of the Department of War in the upper left corner. There is a mirror image of Johnson's signature near the top from folding. Else fine.
