    Andrew Johnson Document Signed "Andrew Johnson". One partially printed page, 7.5" x 8", Washington, D.C.; December 28, 1866. In this document Johnson authorizes "...a Warrant for the unconditional pardon of Mrs. Sally Chaapel." Matted and framed with a carte de visite of a seated Johnson to the overall size of 13.75" x 19.5". Following the Civil War, both Abraham Lincoln and Andrew Johnson extended pardons to ex-Confederates. These pardons were generally reserved for soldiers above the rank of colonel and civilians who held political power in the Confederate government.

    Condition: Rectangular area of mat burn and/or toning at the top left corner. Flattened mail folds, else good. There is an area of discoloration on the CDV, not affecting the image of Johnson.
