Allen Ginsberg Autograph Letter Signed with Booklet Signed. Both were mailed by Ginsberg to progressive writer Richard Rovere in 1970. The letter is one page, 8.5" x 14", written on the verso of a poster advertising an anti-Vietnam War event featuring Ginsberg, among many others. Ginsberg's letter to Rovere, written in bold, blue ink from New York, concerns a recent speech given by Rovere. In part:

"Enclosed paper pps 14-18 supplements your Tunney-speech note on Talk of Town re CIA involvement with opium traffic in Indochina & Elsewhere. . . . A group of Stanford students connected w/ P. D. Scott & Ramparts are doing further research. Fullbright writes that the Gruening report is out of print. The entire situation from street to hill-tribe requires further, but him, investigation as my notes will indicate-some sort of Junkies' Liberation Front would end city terror re 'lawn order.'"

The "paper" Ginsberg refers to is included - an Allen Ginsberg Booklet Signed. Seventeen pages, 8.5" x 11", n.p., December 20, 1970, entitled, "Documents on Police Bureaucracy's Conspiracy Against Human Rights of Opiate Addicts & Constitutional Rights of Medical Profession Causing Mass Breakdown of Urban Law & Order," and compiled by Ginsberg, "Scribe." Some annotations. On the front page, Ginsberg has written in bold, blue ink, "300 copies Xmas 1970 N.Y.C. -a few signed by the author. For Richard Rovere in thanks for his attention-see part 4-(p14-18) from Allen Ginsberg Dec 20, 1970." A very clean copy. Also included is the beige manila envelope addressed by Ginsberg to Rovere-stamped and postmarked with expected stains.
