Albert Einstein Typed Letter Signed "A. Einstein." One page, 8" x 10.5" (sight), Princeton, New Jersey; June 18, 1945. Addressed to Lionel M. Ettlinger and written in German. The letter discusses the upcoming employment of Dr. Lasareff and of the distribution of funds for the war effort in Belgium. A translation reads in part:

"Thank you for your detailed information about Mr. Lasareff. Meanwhile a letter came from him confirming the news of his probable employment at the University of Liege...I learned that the American Relief Operation for Belgian Institutes is not responsible for the distribution of funds itself, but is left to the Belgian state. To my regret I won't be in Princeton when the influential Professor Duesberg comes here but from next week on my address is 4 Knollwood, Saranac Lake N.Y. Hopefully he will give me the opportunity to write for Lasareff." Matted and framed with a black and white portrait of a young Einstein to the overall size of 19.5" x 16".

Condition: Flattened mail folds with light toning throughout. There are some minor areas of soiling. Two small areas of discoloration at the top corners. Boldly signed.
