DescriptionAlbert Einstein Typed Letter Signed. One page on Institute for Advanced Study letterhead, 8.5" x 11", signed "A. Einstein" (February 12, 1943) to Professor Harlow Shapley at Harvard College Observatory. Einstein declines an invitation to the 400th anniversary of Copernicus' death, due to his ill health. Towards the end of his life, Einstein was plagued by chronic illnesses, suffering most often from digestive system complications.
Condition: Slightly toned around edges, usual mail folds. Two small tears at top, left edge corner, with some creasing, else good condition.
