    Abraham Lincoln Signed Military Appointment. DS "Abraham Lincoln", one page on vellum, 14.5" x 18.25", Washington D.C., 26 December 1861. Countersigned by Secretary of War Edwin Stanton, appointing John Rice to the rank of "First Lieutenant in the fifth regimental infantry".Heavy wrinkling, some toning, but bearing a legible signature. Good condition.
