Abraham Lincoln: Signed endorsement Tipped Into Patent Book.
Report of the Commissioner of Patents, 1850, Washington Office of Printers to House of Reps, 625 pp., bound in leather, 5.75" x 8.75", light wear, toning to pages, else fine. List of patents for the year 1849. On the first page there is a note written (removed from a letter)and signed by Abraham Lincoln, as President. The note, which is held in place by corner tabs, and can be removed, measures 2.875" x 3", and reads "Submitted to the Sec. of War A. Lincoln Aug. 6, 1862". On this date President Lincoln spoke to a crowd gathered on the east front of the Capitol Building to dispel rumors that General George McClellan and Secretary of War Edwin Stanton were feuding. Three months later Lincoln relieved McClellan of his command for his lack of aggressiveness in fighting the Confederate Army.
