    Abraham Lincoln Autograph Endorsement Signed on the back of a two-page letter from Senator John B. Henderson. Henderson's letter to Lincoln is two pages of a bifolium, 7.75" x 9.75"; he is writing from Louisiana, Missouri; and the letter is dated October 16, 1862. Henderson is writing to Lincoln a letter of introduction for Captain O.W. Cutler, who is seeking a "position connected with the superintendency or operating one of the Railroads of the South, say no Tennessee or Northern Alabama." Lincoln has endorsed the letter on the verso: "I have great confidence in Senator Henderson and would be much pleased to oblige him. Mr. Cutler I do not personally know, but with Senator Henderson's endorsement, I should be pleased for him to be employed as he desires, if consistent with the public service. A. Lincoln. Oct. 29, 1862."

    Condition: Flattened mail folds. Letter has been silked on the interior pages, with tiny chips of paper loss at the folds in the margins. Separations at the integral fold. There are ink smudges appearing on the first page of the letter.
