    Description

Abraham Lincoln. Autograph Document Signed three times "Taylor & Lincoln p.q." No place or date (Tazewell Co., Ill.; docketed May 1854), one and a fraction pages, folio, on ruled blue paper. In Betsey Ferguson vs Peter Fleming, a "breach of marriage contract,", the plaintiff responds to several of the defendant's pleas, calling one "repugnant, in this, that it admits the contract…and then avers the existence of a condition which would change the contract…into a wholly different contract." Further, Betsey says she "did not discharge and release the said defendant" nor "neglect and refuse to marry" him as he claims. SEE PRECEDING AND FOLLOWING LOTS From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.
