    Description

Abraham Lincoln Autograph Document Signed. One page, approximately 8" x 5", on pale blue paper, Sangamon County [Springfield], n.d. [November 13, 1846]. This legal appeal appears to be from the case of John Calhoun v. John Warner and Lawrence Gros. It reads, in full:

"And for further plea in this behalf the said defendants say actio nom because they say the said appeal suits in the said declaration mentioned was not, nor was either of them, by the Circuit Court of Sangamon County, ordered to proceed in the name of Lawrence Gros, in manner and form as is in said declaration alledged [sic]; and of this they put themselves upon the county &c. Lincoln & Herndon.

"And for further plea in this behalf the said defendants say actio nom because they say judgments were not rendered by the Circuit Court of Sangamon County, on the trials of said appeal suits, or on the trail of either of them, in manner and form."

Research reveals that on November 13, 1846, Abraham Lincoln drew up bill of particulars and exceptions in the case of John Calhoun v. John Warner and Lawrence Gros. It is unclear precisely what the case concerned. Matted to an overall size of 11.75" x 9.25. Light toning of document; matte board is moderately toned and well-worn.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
