    A Group of Four Texas and Virginia Letters and Documents. The collection, dating from 1857 to 1866, includes the following:

    W.P. Rose Autograph Letter Signed "WP Rose." Three pages of a bifolium, 5" x 8", New Orleans; February 8, 1866. Addressed to his mother, "Mammie", with details about a wedding he attended and inquiries about her visiting him. Accompanied by the original transmittal cover and a Freedman's Bureau check, measuring 8.75" x 3.5", Harrison County, Texas; July 3, 1865. Made out for JM Taylor for $1.00.

    Spotsylvania 1857 Deed Transferring Possession of Slaves. Three pages of a bifolium, 7.75" x 12.75", Spotsylvania; July 16, 1857. William H. Andrews appoints his agent and attorney, John D. Andrews, to take possession of his slaves in his name. William Andrews owned a number of slaves, with two males names Robin and Henry, and two women, Dorcas and Queen, and their respective unnamed children. With a Richmond, Virginia Commission of Deeds paper seal present on page three.

    Pryor S. Loving Autograph Letter Signed "P S Loving." One page, 7.25" x 12.25", Hopkins; May 8, 1857. Addressed to James Loving, with weather and news from the farm.

    Fergus Burleson Autograph Letter Signed "Fergus G Burleson." Two pages, front and back, 7.75" x 9.75", Baylor University; June 13, 1860. Addressed to Brother James Stubling, covering a variety of topics, from building a church in San Antonio, being in debt, and inquiring about Baylor University. The letter is accompanied by the original transmittal cover.

    Each letter has flattened mail folds. With varying degrees of toning and soiling throughout to each. Small amounts of chipping at some edges. All proceeds to benefit educational programs at The Bryan Museum.
