Daugherty", one page, 8" x 10.5", on Office of the Attorney General letterhead, Washington, May 18, 1921, to the Hon. Howard Sutherland, Washington, the Attorney General responds to the Senator's inquiry regarding a candidate he recommended to the FBI, the paper is slightly toned, otherwise it is in very good condition. 2) Charles Evans Hughes Typed Letter Signed as Secretary of State "Charles E. Hughes", one page, 8" x 10.5", on Department of State letterhead, Washington, May 20, 1921, to Howard Sutherland, United States Senate, Hughes responds to Sutherland's inquiry regarding a candidate he recommended for the Consular Service, slightly toned with staple holes in the upper left corner, otherwise very good. 3) Frederick H. Gillett Typed Signed Letter as Speaker of the House of Representatives "F. H. Gillett", one page, 8" x 10.5", on The Speaker's Rooms letterhead, Springfield, Massachusetts, October 23, 1922, to Mr. Ernest M. Whitcomb, Amherst, Massachusetts, with the usual fold creases and scattered foxing, otherwise very good. 4) James J. Davis Typed Letter Signed as Secretary of Labor "James J. Davis", one page, 8" x 10.5", on Department of Labor letterhead, Washington, January 4, 1923, to Mr. G. Lynn Sumner, Scranton, Pennsylvania, the Labor Secretary thanks Mr. Sumner, the author of Abraham Lincoln, As a Man Among Men, for a copy of his book, mounting remnants on the verso, else fine. 5) Henry C. Wallace Typed Letter Signed as Secretary of Agriculture "Henry C. Wallace", one page, 7" x 9", on Secretary of Agriculture letterhead, Washington, January 12, 1923, to Mr. G. Lynn Sumner, Scranton, Pennsylvania, with mounting remnants on the verso, else very good.
