Description

[Texas Rangers]. Edward Burleson, Jr., Autograph Document Twice Signed "Ed Burleson." One page, 7.25" x 11.5", Eagle Pass [Texas], August 21, 1856. Texas Ranger Edward Burleson, Jr. here binds himself "to John B. Rich for any moneys that he may have to pay for me on account of a cobolado crossed by me." The signing was witnessed by two additional Rangers, Bernard David and Louis Sheihagen, who attest that they "also will answer for any charges which should be made against the above animals." Docketed on verso in Spanish: "Bonding of a horse herd that was crossed today, August 21, 1856." Dampstaining at the margins and along the folds with little affect to the text.

Edward Burleson, Jr. (1826-1877), son of Texas revolutionary hero Edward Burleson, was serving under John S. Ford in the Texas Rangers during the time this document was written. It is likely that the horses involved were for the use of the Texas Rangers. Documents from this period of Ranger service are very scarce.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
