In April 1841 he assumed command of rangers known as the Montgomery County Minutemen, which served until October 7, 1841. Both Rayburn and Martin Copeland were privates in the Montgomery County Minutemen. Greer was killed in action against Indian tribes in 1842. From the Robert E. Davis Collection.
