Inscribed above the image, "To Mrs. Wayland, with the kindest regards of", and signed directly beneath "Mark Twain." The photograph depicts the white-haired Samuel Clemens in a dark three-piece suit, standing with his hands in his vest pockets. Produced by New York: Gessford Photography, 1904. Framed to the overall size of 11.75" x 14.5". Also signed in an unknown hand in pencil at the bottom margin.

    Condition: Toned throughout, else very good.
