    [Revolutionary War]. Patrick Henry Military Appointment Signed "P. Henry" as governor of Virginia with Daughters of the American Revolution application. One page, 12.75" x 8.25", Williamsburg, September 25, 1778, appointing "...James Ware...Second Lieutenant of Militia in the County of Amherst...and you are to pay a ready Obedience to all Orders and Instructions which from Time to Time you may receive from the Governour, or executive Power of this State for the Time being..." The document has sustained some moderate damage along the edges and at the intersection of the main horizontal and vertical fold with some loss of text. Mounted to a backing board for protection. Heavily toned with scattered foxing. Appointments by Henry are scarce.

    With an Agnes Ware Bishop application for admission into The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Four integral pages, 8.5" x 14", Selma [Alabama], March 18, 1907. Bishop was a descendant of James Ware and a great-niece of Benjamin Taliaferro. [and:] A typed letter featuring a full transcription of the above appointment and identifying Agnes Bishop, "Historian of Cherokee Chapter, D.A.R," as the possessor of the original document. [and:] A handwritten family tree from James Ware to Edward Ware, grandfather of Agnes Bishop.
