[Revolutionary War]. George Rogers Clark Document Signed. One page, 7.75" x 3.75", September 18, 1781. Addressed to quartermaster general Major Walls, this document orders "one pound of Coffey and two pounds of sugar for the use of the sick in Capt Cheneys Company." Clark, a brigadier general in the Continental Army and the highest ranking officer in the northwestern frontier, signs at lower right. Docketed on the verso. General Clark (1752-1818), the older brother of William Clark of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, was known after the war as the "Conqueror of the Northwest."

Condition: Uneven edges. Separation near the left edge has been repaired on the verso using archival tissue, causing staining on the recto. Smoothed folds. Clark's signature is bold, but shows some minor ink smudging.
