    Description

    [Revolutionary War]. Benedict Arnold Signature. One page, 5.25" x 2.25", [Camp at Middle Brook]; [June 4, 1779]. The partial document reads in full: "Pay the contents to Capt. John Wiley." Signed, "B. Arnold." It is adhered to a larger paper with an engraving of Arnold to the overall size of 5.25" x 8.25".

    John Wiley (1748-1829) was a captain in the 1st New York Regiment until 1780 when he became the commissary of purchases for New York.

    Condition: Lightly toned with minute foxing. .25" closed tear on the right edge of the mounting paper that does not affect the document.
