    Description

[Peter Faneuil]. 1726 Payment Voucher Featuring the Signatures of Several Prominent Boston Merchants. One page, recto and verso, 3" x 7.5", Boston; August 20 to September 21, 1726.

This document, a voucher for payments received of Henry Deering (alternately spelled "Dering" and "Dearing"), features the signatures of some of Boston's most prominent merchants, most notably Peter Faneuil (1700-1743). Faneuil is probably best known for his gift to the city of Boston of a large market building known as Faneuil Hall. The hall was a vital civic center and hosted many pre-Revolution meetings. The document is also signed by Hugh Vans (circa 1699-1763), a merchant and author of several pamphlets on monetary topics, including "An Inquiry into the Nature and Uses of Money"; and Thomas Cushing, a leading member of the Old South Church and a selectman. It is also signed by Benjamin Atkinson, William Franklyn, Pyam Blowers, James King, Anne Bernard, James Allen.

    Condition: Gently toned.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
