A must-have for any space autograph collection.

"Mercury Seven" NASA Astronaut Group One Color Photo Signed by All. A 10" x 8" print of the seven men chosen in April 1959 as the first astronauts in the American space program. They are posed in their flight suits in front of an Air Force F-102 and all have signed above their respective images in various inks as follows (from left): "Scott Carpenter", "Gordon Cooper" (1927-2004), "J H Glenn Jr", "Gus Grissom" (1926-1967), "W M Schirra" (1923-2007), "Alan Shepard" (1923-1998), and "D K Slayton" (1924-1993). There is an inscription at top in an unknown hand, "To Jerry Michaud/ with Best Wishes/ from the 7 Astronauts". It is interesting to note that three have signed (obviously at a later date) over original authentic, but very light, signatures: "Scott Carpenter", "Gordon Cooper", and "Alan B Shepard Jr". A cornerstone piece for any space autograph collection. Very fine except for light tape stains strictly in two margins.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
