[Mark Twain]. Samuel Clemens Autograph Letter Signed "Papa." Two pages of a bifolium, 4.25" x 7", Bremen, Germany; June 14, 1892. Writing to his daughter, Jean, Clemens shares his daily doings while travelling with his wife and sends his love to his children. The trip was a both a belated honeymoon for the Clemens as well as a health respite. Samuel, Olivia, and their daughter Susy were all suffering from various health issues and sought the healing properties of European baths. They travelled around Europe, with numerous stops in Italy before ending in Germany. The letter reads, in full:"I am up & shaved & got my clean shirt on & feel mighty fine, & I am going down to show off before I put on the rest of my clothes. Perhaps Mamma & Mrs. Hague can persuade the Hauswirth to do right; but if he don't, you go down & kill his dog. I wish I could invite the Consul General & his ladies down to take one of those slim dinners with Mamma; then he would complain to the Government. Mamma has packed my satchel so handily that I am not having any trouble with it - nor Mamma! I send my love to you both, & hope you will be thoughtful & care-taking & considerate of each other - especially you - (translate that) - & then you will both be happy & I also. Goodbye." Accompanying the letter is the original transmittal cover, addressed in Clemens' hand.
Samuel Clemens (1835-1910) tried several failed careers including printer and miner before eventually settling on being an editor for the Virginia City Territorial Enterprise in Nevada. Later he began writing, under the pen name Mark Twain, and some of his early tales include: The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County and Innocents Abroad. His best-known works are The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and, of course, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
Condition: Flattened mail folds, with light toning throughout. Smudged address on the transmittal cover, with a torn upper edge. Usual wear and soiling to the cover.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.View More Testimonials
As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
HA.com receives more traffic than any other auction house website. (Source: Similarweb.com)
