    [John Hancock]. Massachusetts Broadside for the Election of Electors in the First Presidential Election. One printed page, 13.25" x 16.25" (sight), Boston, November 19, 1788. A resolution dividing the Commonwealth into "...eight districts for the purpose of choosing eight persons to represent the the Congress of the United States..." It furthers states that the elected representatives would vote for two candidates: one as elector of the president and one as elector of the vice president. The electors were to meet "...on the first Wednesday of February the State-House in the town of Boston, for the purpose of voting by ballot...for President and Vice-President of the United States." Signed in print by John Hancock as governor of Massachusetts, John Avery, Samuel Phillips, and Theodore Sedgwick. Light chipping of the edges. Ink ghosting at lower edge. Minor staining at lower right corner and at left of Hancock's name. Ink bleed-through from verso at upper center. Matted and framed to an overall size of 24" x 27".
