    More Information:

Oscar L. Huber's (1929-2005) manuscript begins with expectations of "the great day set for the visit of the President of the United States, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, had arrived. Dallas had worked feverishly to make this the most enthusiastic welcome ever to be given a President of the United States." Later in the account, after the president had been shot, "a telephone call came from someone at Parkland saying Mrs. Kennedy was requesting a priest to administer to the spiritual needs of the President. Within 10 or 15 minutes we were at the hospital. Father Thompson parked the car while I was escorted by a policeman to an emergency room where I found the fatally wounded President lying on a portable table. . . . During these ceremonies, Mrs. Kennedy was standing beside the President." The account continues with a short conversation between the priest and Mrs. Kennedy who spoke in a "low tone of voice". The account ends, "May God lead the new President of the United States, Lyndon Baines Johnson, safely along the arduous paths that lie ahead of him."
