The Texas School Book Depository Pays Employee Oswald

[John F. Kennedy]: Lee Harvey Oswald's Last Pay Check. 3" x 8.25" check printed on safety stock, drawn on the account of the "Texas School Book Depository" in the First National Bank of Texas [Dallas], made payable to Mrs. Lee Harvey Oswald in the amount of $43.37. A memo in the lower left corner reads: "4 1/2 Days/ Lee Harvey Oswald/ for Nov. '63". Few people realize that Oswald was an employee of the Texas School Book Depository and was therefore ideally situated to shoot President Kennedy as his motorcade negotiated the curve by Dealey Plaza and the Grassy Knoll. Oswald "left work" early that day so he could assassinate the President! The site is now the "6th Floor Museum". Understandably, this check was never presented for payment by Marina Oswald. It was given by her to her personal attorney and from him to the current consignor. Accompanied by a letter of provenance.
