[Gettysburg Casualty]. Union Lieutenant Colonel Charles R. Mudge Autograph Document Signed and Carte de Visite. One page, 7.75" x 2.5", Boston, August 2, 1862. Mudge was captain of the 2nd Massachusetts Infantry when he wrote this short note acknowledging that he has "examined TLD Perkins accounts and find that 147 Rations is right." Accompanying the note is a 2.5" x 4.25" studio portrait of Mudge in uniform, sitting at a table, his right elbow set upon the table. The image is affixed to a Whipple, Boston mount. An ink inscription below the photograph tells of the fate of Mudge, in full: "Maj. C.R. Mudge 2nd Mass Vol. Inty Kill'd in Action at Gettysburg July 3d 1865." Both are near fine.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
