Description

[Abraham Lincoln] Wallpaper from the Lincoln's Death Room. Consisting of fifteen delaminated layers of the wallpaper and border from the room in the Petersen House located at 516 Tenth Street where Lincoln died on April 15, 1865. Each piece is carefully wrapped in a plastic sheath and bound in a green booklet; each sheet is individually labeled according to layer.

Included is a letter of authenticity dated October 1, 1980, from the United States Department of the Interior which states, in part: "Our findings show that your wallpaper sample is authentic and is from the room where Lincoln died...During the 1978 wallpaper research, samples for the room where Lincoln died were delaminated. Upon examination and using documented evidence describing the death room in 1865, we were able to conclude that the bottom layer of wallpaper was present during that tragic event." With the letter is a reproduced sample of the original wallpaper. Also an engraved portrait bust of Lincoln measuring 1.5" x 2" (sight).

An incredible piece of Civil War and Lincoln memorabilia.
