    EMSH (EDWARD EMSHWILLER). 1961 Hugo Award for Best Professional Artist. Given at the 19th World Science Fiction Convention, Seattle, Washington, September 2-4, 1961. Measures approximately 20 inches tall. Base measures 6 x 6 inches. Emshwiller won this rocket-shaped statue, his third of five career Hugo Awards, over fellow nominees Virgil Finlay, Frank Kelly Freas and Mel Hunter. It was also the middle victory for Emshwiller in a three-peat between 1960 and 1962. Minor chipping to the wooden base and some overall dust-soiling, else very good condition. A unique artifact from one of science fiction and fantasy's greatest artists. From the Jerry Weist Collection.
