    Description

Garth Williams, illustrator. Two Original Preliminary Pencil Drawings of "Hanna[h] Banana" for Ride a Purple Pelican by Jack Prelutsky. [N.p., n.d., ca. 1986]. (Published by Greenwillow Books in 1986). Both are initialed by Williams in the lower right corner. On plain white paper. Both 8.5 x 11 inches. Creasing and bumping to the right edge of one drawing. Very good and fine. This character was cut from the final book and does not actually appear in it. Stylized and whimsical drawing is unusual for Williams, being somewhat reminiscent of Maurice Sendak and others. From the Estate of Garth Williams.
